Rubber is represented by several large trees in the Colony from which cuttings can be obtained at any time, we are in a position to make extensive experiments in rubber trees as soon as circumstances permit.

With regard to the Secretary of State's Despatch No.143 of 1900 in reference to Camphor Tree Cultivation in the New Territory I might mention that there are now 3,000 young Camphor Trees in the Kowloon Nursery and these will be ready for planting out next Spring.
Miscellaneous Plants:
West Indian Mangoes are represented in the Botanic Garden Nursery by several young plants and I hope to raise a big stock this Autumn from seeds of fruits now ripening on tree in the Sookunpo Nursery.
At the beginning of the year we had one plant of Agave Sisalana, Sisal Hemp, in the Gardens and I have propagated a few plants from it. This plant however, can be obtained in quantity, as it travels well, from various places.
The Superintendent of the Royal Botanic Garden, Calcutta, has kindly promised to send us seeds of the Bael tree (Ægle Marmelos) when ripe. There is one tree in the Gardens which has been there for the last ten years at least, but up to now it has not flowered freely. A new stock might produce a better result.
As soon as the Experimental Garden becomes an accomplished fact we shall be able to get other economic plants for testing their suitability for this climate.
